MAJOR FEATURES OF TRAINING PROGRAM: We have a busy consultation service, seeing approximately 300 inpatients and 150 outpatients annually, in a good teaching hospital of 250 beds. Appropriate training opportunities exist in clinical microbiology, pediatric virology and infection control. The pediatric program is integrated with that in the Department of Medicine, with joint weekly clinical conferences and opportunity for cross-rotations for supplemental experience in sexually transmitted diseases and Traveler’s Clinics. Research facilities are well established and funded by national granting agencies, with the main focus being pathogenesis, host defense, and control of bacterial and viral infections.
